As visionaries, one thing we know how to do for sure is plan. However, we often plan so much that it leads to procrastination. I see why it’s recommended that a visionary be paired with an integrator.
We are winners when it comes to making plans and giving accurate details of how something could look in 10, 5, or 3 years with enough research. I’m often planning so that I’m well prepared. However, my problem lies where I plan so much that eventually, the only plan left is to enact. But then I procrastinate badly, and I’m not sure of the cause. While I procrastinate badly, I could write and plan for ages while doing so. It’s something that comes so naturally to me! Maybe what hinders us visionaries are our plans. A lot of us have huge plans and goals for ourselves. And while we might not realize it consciously, we realize subconsciously, the amount of work and effort we will have to put in. Of course, this doesn’t bother us, even when thinking about the work consciously, but as we are often not so in tune with our subconscious, we require a lot of self-discipline if we want to get moving and start living out our dreams. We don’t realize it, but our subconscious is the reason for our procrastination and once you realize a problem, it’s much easier to fight against it.
For the successful visionaries out there. Do you think you could’ve gotten where you are today much faster? Before your integrator, before your team. I’m talking about when you were just a one-man or women company. Maybe, maybe not, but I digress.
My skills are not limited as I’d also make a great integrator. However, it’s not my dominant ability. In my surroundings, I’m often taking on the role of the leader. I prefer to work alone as sometimes working in a group means that my ‘better ideas’ may not always be utilized. And honestly, it’s pretty frustrating. However, when everyone’s on the same page as me, I’ll always be a great leader making things fun for everyone, while making sure there is order of course, as well as making sure roles are being utilized effectively. I’m not sure whether or not I was forced to be an integrator due to my need to begin enacting my plans at 16 years old. But what I would say is delaying me at times, would be procrastination. Sometimes I have a really high energy level and then I’m on a roll, other times I’m neutral, but lately, my self-discipline has been in the trash. Besides being just a visionary, being an intellectual visionary means that I think incredibly deeply when it comes to future plans, incorporating it with reality constantly and answering any questions to problems that may come my way in the future. “Focus on where you want to be, not your fears.”
I said, “lately my self-discipline has been in the trash.” Meaning, I don’t always procrastinate. Actually, It isn’t that common for me. However when there are many things on one’s mind, it leads you to want to halt another thing, to make time for the other, but you would rather do the former …but you have a “deadline” and now you’ve halted both things to relax and recalibrate as this kind of thinking stresses and drains a person. As I’m writing this I’m also figuring out the solution to my procrastination. Cool. And when you know the cause of something, it becomes much easier to fix!
